Moving Souls-242// project-Ioannina

The individual painting exhibition “Moving Souls-242// project-Ioannina” by Elina Tsingiroglou will be hosted at the exhibition space of Soufari Sarai, at the Historical Archives – Museum of Epirus (I.A.M.H.) from 15-12-2023 until 21-01-2024. It is under the auspices of A.IA.RI (International Organization of Plastic Arts of Italy), curated by Roberto Ronca.

The opening of the exhibition took place on Monday 18/12/2023 at 19:00, under the sounds of the saxophonist and composer Telis Dimitrakopoulos, Dualistic SoundScapes, who, guided by the visual – sometimes abstract and sometimes complex – stimulus caused by the visual works of Elina Tsingiroglou, has created expanded musical universes with on-the-spot compositions and improvisations, in a crossover of the source experience of world traditions with contemporary creation.

One Sax

One SAX One MAN

The multi-prismatic project “One SAX One MAN | The exotic thing” is a

different and peculiar perspective of the general aesthetics of “One man

concert”. Driven by two saxophones, an FX (effects) pedal board and a

performer, through “live FX & live looping”, an experimental-sometimes minimal and sometimes intensely dynamic- soundscape is created, with original compositions and/or existing works.
Multiple saxophones universes & Sax Choirs combined with atmospheric effects, modal phraseology/ornamentation and Balkan rhythmology.

It is thus an aesthetically original experience which balances between the contemporary Modal Jazz aesthetic and the oral musical tradition of the of the Mediterranean and the Balkans. It is structured in the context of contemporary creation and is restructured with a crossover of previous ones with on-site composition and improvisation.

The project, in other words, introduces an -otherwise- Western style and timbre musical instrument (saxophone), with the broader modality and stylistic aesthetics source of experience of the World music traditions.

“One SAX | One MAN | The exotic thing” explores both the possibilities of saxophone as a solo instrument in extended harmonic structures, as well as putting this to original compositions, based on the coexistence of the spontaneous acoustic sound with contemporary analog, digital tools and experimental attempts.
